New Caledonia – Dengue

A dengue fever outbreak is being reported in New Caledonia. With dengue outbreaks common across the tropics, including the Pacific Islands, it is always wise to be careful to avoid mosquito bites when travelling, particularly during daylight hours in urban areas. There has been a dengue vaccine available in Australia for at least 12 months, however it is only suitable for travellers who have already had dengue previously. For most travellersĀ  simple mosquito avoidance measures are recommended.
For more information see ourĀ dengue & mosquito avoidance measures pages.
